Yom Teruah 5783.

Welcome to a brief on the season we are entering into as those who partner with the nation of Israel and believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel.

When God delivered the children of Israel from Egypt and brought them into the promised land part of which represents modern day Israel, He have them ordinances which are recorded in Leviticus 23 and are popularly known as the Feasts of the LORD.

Please note that this are not feasts of Israel or the church, they are ordained as Feasts of the Lord, those who obey Him and believe in Him.

Leviticus 23:1 – 2: And the LORD spoke to Moses saying, speak to the children of Israel and say to them, the feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are my feasts (NKJV).

The Lord spoke again to Moses, saying, “Speak to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The appointed times (established feasts) of the Lord which you shall proclaim as holy convocations—My appointed times are these: (AMP)

From these Bible excerpts these days are known as appointed times and or holy convocations, feasts of the Lord and in the same chapter we have The Feasts of Trumpets in verse 23 to verse 25.

Again, the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Say to the children of Israel, ‘On the first day of the seventh month (almost October), you shall observe a day of solemn sabbatical rest, a Memorial Day announced by the blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. You shall not do any laborious work [on that day], but you shall present an offering by fire to the Lord.’”

Israel and the Jewish people follow a calendar connected to their departure from Egypt when God instructed them to prepare the Passover. This calendar has 12 months and 13 months on a leap year and started with the head of the months as written in Exodus 12: 1- 25, The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, 2 “This [a]month shall be the beginning of months to you; it is to be the first month of the year to you (Amp)

The first month in Jewish calendar is Nisan and the seventh month is the month of Tishrei which we are currently in and in which we commemorate the Feast of Trumpets. The first day of this month in the year 2023/5783 fell on the evening of 15th September 2023 to the evening of 16th September.

The day opens up a season of crucial Jewish holidays including the day of atonement (Yom Kippur), the feast of tabernacles earning the season the name, high holidays or Hagim in Hebrew.

From us to you we wish you a meaningful and festive time as you celebrate and commemorate such a momentous occasion.

Leshana Tovah Tekatev Vitechatem. (May you) be inscribed for a good year (in the Book of Life).
