1. Citizenship Law
Israel’s new coalition government is set to undergo a major test as the law forbidding citizenship for Palestinians who marry Israeli citizens. According to a report by Israel’s Security Agency – Shin Bet, failure to enact the law would harm Israel’s security (Sharon, 2021). Monday 5th July will see the Knesset vote for or against the Palestinian reunification law which is facing opposition from leftist party Meretz and Arab party Ra’Am who are both part of the coalition government led by Naftali Bennett.
The law is a major concern due to the fact that Israeli Arab citizens are the majority who are requesting citizenship on behalf of their spouses living in Gaza or Judea and Samaria which as a result has been abused by terror group members to gain entry into Israel. The law has strong right wing backing especially from Likud, the current leader in opposition according to Times of Israel.
Prayer that the hand of terrorism against the state of Israel will not carry the day as the Israeli parliament votes today on the evening of Monday 5th July 2021.
2. Renewed negotiations regarding Gaza – warning from Hamas
It’s been reported that Hamas terror group has given a warning to Egyptian negotiators that renewed fighting with Israel was ‘closer than ever’ according to a news report by Arutz Sheva. Israeli delegation from the new government is expected in cairo this week for further negotiations. Gaza issues are core to the success of this new government as such needing a lot of prayer.
3. Israeli Security
Israeli naval ship attacked in the northern part of the Indian Ocean as it headed to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
