2023 Israeli Memorial Day
They year 2023 is quite relevant to the struggle of Israel and the Jewish people against forces that seek to exterminate them and supposedly erase their memory from the planet. The journey into the future seems to unveil new ways of terror against Israelis and the Jewish people, this though will not deter the Jewish and Israeli spirit and resilience. Israel continues to grow and make great strides globally albeit in the midst of great opposition from forces of evil that seek to silence and terrorize.
Technologically, agriculturally, security wise and in health innovation among others Israel is leading the nations of the world and what a great lesson to draw, opposition and hatred has only strengthened the resolve of Israel and the Jewish people.
The date is 24th April 2023 and Israel is finalizing preparations for the Israeli memorial day to be held later that evening when an Israeli citizen of Arab descent ploughs through a busy open air market in the middle of Jerusalem, Machane Yehuda wounding 5 people and seriously traumatizing many more. This is against the backdrop of the 80-year anniversary of the Warsaw Holocaust Ghetto uprising a week ago, it seems there is no break for Israel.
Cycles upon cycles of violence and though painful Israel's resilence is eveident and it also has positively put Israel on the global scale as a leader in security. In the words of H.E. Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel is motivated by life and will never be broken by her enemies even though her enemies are motivated by destruction and death.
The year 2023 is special because this is when Israel commemorates 50 years since the Yom Kippur war of 1973. I undertook an assignment in my graduate studies with a focus on foreign policy analysis of all the leaders involved and it was such a great time of great learning, one thing I can confidently say is that He who watches over Israel never sleeps nor slumbers.
In brief Israel was preparing to enter into the holiest day in Jewish life, Yom Kippur or the day of atonement. Her neighbors, Egypt and Syria and other Arab nations were planning on how to attack Israel as she shut down her airspace, activity and entered into the sabbath of Yom Kippur. This is a day when everything in Israel comes to a standstill as the nation is in retrospect for her sins and requesting for atonement in view of the new season ahead and a surprise it was for Israel. However, the God of Israel was not surprised and believe it or not, Israel waded off great opposition from Egypt, Syria, Jordan and other Arab nations to emerge victorious, we will be sharing more on this in the coming months.
As I conclude Israel today is celebrating the Memorial Day for Soldiers and Terror Victims today on the 25th Day of April 2023. The statistics are staggering, 24, 213 fallen soldiers and 4,255 victims of terror attacks, some of these terror attacks have happened on African soil.
In 1976 the current prime minister H.E. Benjamin Netanyahu lost his brother, a commander in the Entebbe attack where an Air France plane was hijacked with Israeli passengers on board.
In Kenya, November 2002 was a defining year when terrorists attacked an Israeli hotel in Kikambala killing at 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis. As we mourn for the departed souls we stand and continue to pray for the Israel and The Jewish people that God’s shield will continually be upon them both this time and forever more. We celebrate the resilience of Israel and their continued contribution into the fight against terror and securing nations from this barbaric force which is motivated by fear.
Am Israel Chai!
